I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled

An Ordinance to make provision with respect to military

service and to provide for the establishment maintenance

and control of a local defence corps,

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to the

RETURNS AND REPORTS.

The following Returns and Reports will be rendered by the Administrative Commandant to the General Officer Commanding the Troops at the respective times specified below for transmission to the Governor :-

The object of this Ordinance is to make all male

British subjects between the ages of 18 and 58 who are ordinarily

resident in the Colony, with certain exceptions which are specified

in section 2, liable to military service in the Colony when called

up for such service by the Governor in Council.
